How to DIY a kitchen island/bar

Right after moving into our beautiful and spacious apartment in Amsterdam I envisioned a bar/kitchen island. Like I said, it's a spacious apartment with a living of almost 12 metres long and a large open space in front of the kitchen. Since my husband and I are quite tall and our kitchen counter is rather low and we could use some extra space to prep food or bake, this idea soon became a plan. After 8 months we thrifted the most beautiful bar stools and we couldn't just leave them without a proper space! I started sketching my idea, took measurements and went to the hardware store for all things needed. The goal was to finish in one weekend, but like all things never done before: prepare for the unforeseen and be patient:) 2 weekends was all it took in the end. We eventually added shelving on the inside of the bar to display our prettiest plates, cups and other kitchen supplies.
